Having worked in Win TV, Townsville, Channel Nine and ABC Darwin. For the past 5 years I have been living in Darwin, NT and working as a freelance operator gaining experience in a wide range of contexts and production activities both in single person crew, in partnership with a camera operator or sound recordist and in larger production teams eg Thoroughbred Racing NT or ‘Bushwacked’ TV series.

This varied experience has provided me with multiple skills and the ability to work confidently in a variety of contexts and to learn new systems quickly. Freelance operation often means working with previously unseen gear and this required the ability to learn and quickly familiarize yourself with the equipment provided in order to meet client needs. Similarly in an editing context there are many non linear programs each built on like fundamentals. Prioritizing in editing is critical to the editing process and requires the ability to plan, consider deadlines and to communicate effectively with journalist and producer. For example: in a situation where you may be working on a News Sports package and the lead story come in it would be a priority to get the lead story edited because it sits higher in the run down. I have good planning and communication skills along with sound understanding of OH&S policy and media law.
